Trump says ‘I don’t mind’ if the media gets shot

At the start of his first rally on Sunday, Donald Trump said, “I love getting rid of these stupid teleprompters because the truth is coming out.” That statement was an omen of what would happen and when the former president said he wouldn’t “mind” it if a potential murderer would have to ‘shoot’ members of the media in an attempt to kill him.

“I have a piece of glass here,” Trump said at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, pointing to the far right. Since Trump’s assassination attempt in July, both he and Vice President Kamala Harris have spoken behind panels of bulletproof glass for security reasons.

“And I don’t have a piece of glass there,” Trump added, pointing between the panes.

“I have a piece of glass here,” Trump continued, pointing forward. “But all we really have here is fake news, right?” The crowd laughed.

“And to get me, someone would have to go through the fake news, and I don’t mind that. I don’t care. I don’t mind that,” he said.

If CNN senior producer Sarah Boxer noted“The riser looking head-on at (Trump) is full of reporters and cameras.”

The former president then flubbed by essentially wishing death on reporters and camera operators, likely including employees of media outlets friendly to him, and started talking about how the glass makes him “not look great on television.”

When you see yourself on television, you say… you’re not really that recognizable, to be honest, and that’s good.’ (Trump is, in fact, extremely relatable, partly because its ever-increasing orange hue.)

Although Trump quickly distanced himself from his dangerous comments, it is important to highlight his threatening rhetoric for what it is: a call for violence.
