At least six were injured after tornado spawning storms left a trail of destruction in parts of Oklahoma

Tornadoes and flooding caused by intense thunderstorms ripped through parts of Oklahoma overnight, injuring six people and destroying homes and other property.

Six people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Valerie Littlejohn, public information officer for the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Several structures in the area were damaged, as well as power lines, trees, gas lines, traffic lights and road signs, she said.

National weather service teams are mapping the damage Sunday, including in the town of Valley Brook, where the storms caused heavy destruction.

Video of the damage from CNN affiliate KOCO shows cars being overturned and entire houses being torn apart. The storms toppled telephone poles and snapped trees in half. Debris is scattered across the affected areas, including large pieces of wood and metal from buildings that have been torn apart.

Cue’s father, who moved to Oklahoma City from Kansas about two years ago, was also injured when the roof collapsed on him.

“He was unconscious for a short time and we weren’t sure if everything was OK,” Cue said.

When the pair were able to leave the house around 1:30 a.m., Cue said neighbors were screaming and helping people out of the rubble until first responders arrived.
