Most public schools will be closed on New Jersey’s state holiday. However, the decision on whether to close schools rests entirely with local districts and the leadership of private and parochial schools on Election Day.

An increasing number of school districts in New Jersey have decided to close schools on Election Day so that school buildings can be used as polling places without the security concerns of students being present. Other districts have decided to move polling places to non-school locations due to the same concerns.

It is best for parents and guardians to check their child’s school calendar to see if they are closed.

All Commission on Motor Vehicles offices will be closed. In addition, all state offices and courts in New Jersey are closed.

NJ Transit, PATH And SEPTA will operate according to normal timetable.
