Richland County deputies charged the man with attempted murder after the shooting

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and charged with attempted murder.

Deputies said Marshaun Robinson was responsible for a shooting Friday after 11 p.m. on the 1200 block of Metze Road.

According to investigators, Robinson and another person were “friends” on Metze Road. There was a brief conversation between the two, and Robinson then fired his weapon at the person, hitting him, according to a sheriff’s news release.

A news release said the person fired back in what deputies said was self-defense.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s department, officers did not learn about the gunshot victim until they questioned and detained Robinson.

Robinson was also injured in the shooting, the sheriff’s department said.

He was taken to a local hospital and then booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Robinson has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and felon in possession of a weapon.
