Russell Brand could be indicted on sex crime charges

Authorities are investigating the allegations of sexual crimes involve Russell Brand have asked prosecutors to consider filing charges the disgraced comedian.

As reported by the BBCBrand – a comedian and actor who starred in a series of Hollywood films such as Bedtime stories And Forgot Sarah Marshall has been interviewed by police three times since a documentary about his allegations was published in September 2023.

The documentary, a joint investigation of the Sunday Times, The times and Channel 4’s Shipments titled Russell Brand: In Plain Sightalleged that the comedian sexually assaulted a number of women between 2006 and 2013, including one victim who was 16 at the time.

Brand denied the allegations, saying they were “very, very hurtful.” He had also released a YouTube video prior to the documentary’s release, in which he stated that “during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual.”

On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said it had received the letter reports of sexual offenses by women following the publication of the documentary, BBC reports.

“A man in his 40s had been questioned by officers three times under caution,” police said.

“A dossier of evidence has now been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for consideration.”

The CPS has confirmed that a file of evidence has been handed over and may therefore consider laying charges against the 49-year-old man.

In November 2023, BBC announced that it has received five complaints about Brand’s behavior when he hosted the network’s radio shows from 2006 to 2008.

Channel 4 apologized in March 2024 for the “lack of complaint” made against the comedian when he worked for the channel in the 2000s.
