Barre City man recovering from stabbing

BARRE CITY, Vt. (WCAX) – A Barre City man is recovering after police say he was stabbed multiple times in his temple.

It happened Sunday morning, when Barre City police officers raided a home on Merchant St. around 7:15 a.m.

Police say when they arrived, they learned a 28-year-old male resident had been stabbed.

The victim said he was asleep when 30-year-old Philip Mensah of Montpelier allegedly stabbed him four times: once in the neck, twice in the shoulder and once in the arm.

Police say Mensah was visiting one of the victim’s roommates.

He was probably pulled from the victim and then ran away.

Police found him nearby and took him into custody after a brief struggle.

The victim was treated at hospital and then released.

Mensah is being held without bail and will appear in court on Monday.
