The entire police force of an Oklahoma city resigned the same day, officials said.

“We regret to inform you, and we regret to say that our entire police force resigned this morning,” City of Geary Public Information Officer Terryl Allen said in a statement. October 31 Facebook post.

The department consisted of four police officers and the chief of police, The Oklahoman reported.

The announcement came three hours after former Geary Police Chief Alicia Ford announced on the Geary Police Department Facebook page that she and all other officers would “no longer serve this community.”

Ford did not give a specific reason for the firing, but said in the post that it was “the right decision.”

In her announcement, Ford encouraged Geary residents “to get to know your council members and be as involved in the city as possible.”

“Your voices are stronger when you stand as one, and you all have the power to influence the change you want to see in your community,” Ford said.

Allen said they could immediately find an interim chief of police. According to officials, the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office offered their assistance during the transition.

“We would also like to express our thanks and appreciation to our former police chief and officers for their service to our community and wish them continued success.”

Geary is located about 50 miles west of Oklahoma City.
