20-year-old Lebanon man charged with killing two people in Marion County crash

LEBANON, KY (FOX 56) – A Lebanon man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly crashed head-on into another car in Marion County Saturday evening, leading to the deaths of a man and a woman.

According to the Kentucky State Police Department (KSP), it happened Saturday around 6:20 p.m. near the intersection of Jessietown Road in Marion County.

Troopers said an initial investigation revealed that 20-year-old Erick Garcia of Lebanon was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on US 68 when he allegedly crossed the center line of the highway, entered the eastbound lane and entered the road left.

KSP said Garcia then steered his truck back onto the road in the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 75-year-old Roy Wright of Lebanon.

Roy Wright was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he reportedly died.

He had been riding with a passenger, 72-year-old Deborah Wright of Lebanon, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release.

Garcia was arrested and charged with the following:

  • First-degree vehicular homicide

  • First degree assault

  • First degree wanton endangerment

  • Driving under the influence – first offense

Law enforcement officials said Garcia also faced other traffic violations. He was booked into the Marion County Detention Center on Saturday.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
