Man committed suicide after running from a traffic stop in Northern Michigan

ALPENA, MI – A man committed suicide last weekend after fleeing a traffic stop in Northern Michigan, WPBN/WGTU reports.

On Saturday around 2:30 p.m., 911 responders alerted police to a reckless driver in the Alpena area, Alpena police said in a statement to the TV station.

Officers located the vehicle near McRae Park and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The 47-year-old driver fled on foot and entered a home. He then left the home and ran a short distance before killing himself.

The investigation is ongoing. The man’s identity has not been released.
