CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) – The Canton Fire Department responded to a fire at a triplex apartment early Monday morning.

According to a report from Canton Fire, firefighters were dispatched around 1:57 a.m. to a multi-unit fire at the building at 923 6th St. NW.

Four adults had also evacuated the building before firefighters arrived.

Due to the heavy fire and water damage, the building could not be occupied again. That is why the Red Cross was called to assist the residents.

A vehicle next to the building was also destroyed by the fire, according to Canton Fire.

Canton Fire estimated the cost of the damage at approximately $70,000.

There were no civilian casualties reported from Canton Fire, but one firefighter suffered minor burns and remained on duty.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
