Detroit man will spend more than a decade in prison for drug trafficking in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) – A Detroit man was sentenced Monday to more than a decade in prison for his role in a Morgantown drug trafficking operation.

Shakur Jones, 25, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Jones was the supplier of methamphetamine, cocaine base and fentanyl in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Morgantown, court records show. More than a pound of methamphetamine was found in a Morgantown home, and a photo of 10 pounds of pre-packaged methamphetamine was found on Jones’ phone.

Jones will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Three other suspects Nolan Eickleberry27, of Morgantown; John Thomas, 46, of Morgantown; and Dorian Myles, 26, of Detroit, each admitted to their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy, officials said.

Eickleberry was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison in August 2024. Thomas and Myles are still awaiting sentencing.

The Mon Metro Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case.
