The race for the Oval Office is exciting, with national polls with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump neck and neck. In Floridait’s a completely different story if Trump leads over Harris.

Here’s what the polls and odds say now with one day left until election day.

When will the election results be announced?

Not on election dayat least not the official presidential election results.

Vote counting has not been completed on Election Day in any state or at any time in the nation’s history. David Beckerexecutive director of the nonpartisan Center for Election Innovation & Research, told USA TODAY.

Most of the results the public gets on election night come from that day’s in-person voting and early in-person voting, along with any preprocessed ballots in states that allow them. This year, local and national certification deadlines range from two days after November 5 to more than a month.

Things to keep in mind when voting

The margin of error describes how accurately we can count on the survey results being representative of the entire population, USA TODAY reports.

When a candidate’s lead is “within” the margin of error, this is considered a “statistical tie,” according to the researchers. Pew Research Center.

Pew has that too found that the majority of pollsters have changed their methods since the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, significantly underestimating Trump’s performance.

However, the website survey for Florida shows Trump leading Harris by 7 points.

ABC News Project 538 shows Harris with a 47.9% to 47% lead over Trump.

According to ABC News, the website provides an updated average for each candidate in the 2024 presidential election, taking into account each poll’s recency, sample size, methodology and house effects.

Poll averages are adjusted based on state and national polls.

Realclear poll

Realclear polla website that shares current 2024 election polls shares that the betting odds are currently in Trump’s favor with a spread of +0.1.

Reuters/Ipsos

A survey from October 29 by Reuters/Ipsos shows that Harris has a 1 point lead over Trump.

“The three-day poll, which concluded on Sunday, showed the race was effectively tied ahead of the November 5 election. The poll had a margin of error of about three percentage points in either direction,” the poll said.

Center for Public Opinion Research (CPOR) at Stetson University

What do the polls look like in Florida? According to Stetson University SurveyTrump has a notable lead over Harris among likely voters in Florida.

The survey, conducted between October 25 and November 1, showed Trump ahead by seven points, gaining support from 53% of likely voters, compared to 46% for Harris.

The poll surveyed 452 likely voters, with results weighted by age, ethnicity, race, gender, education, party affiliation and geography to reflect the state’s historical voting patterns. The study has a credibility interval of +/- 5%.

Allan Lichtman announces the presidential choice for 2024

Presidential historian Allan Lichtman is a distinguished professor of history at American University and has predicted that Vice President Kamala Harris will win the 2024 presidential election against former President Donald Trump.

According to USA TODAY, Lichtman uses a set of thirteen “keys” to make his choices, ranging from economic indicators to the candidates’ charisma.

Lichtman, 77, has correctly predicted the outcome of almost every election over the past half century except the 2000 race in which Republican George W. Bush defeated Democrat Al Gore.

When is election day?

Election day is Tuesday, November 5.

Polls are open from 7am to 7pm in your time zone. Any voters still in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote, however long that takes.
