Young man hangs himself after humiliation by his girlfriend’s family

An 18-year-old boy, Sahil, died by suicide after allegedly facing harassment and humiliation from his girlfriend’s family. The boy hanged himself from a ceiling fan after a series of incidents in which he was beaten up by the family and later forced by his girlfriend to have a ‘rakhi’ tied around his wrist, symbolizing the bond between his brother and sister.

The police have now registered a case of abetment to suicide against the girl’s family members. Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made.

Sahil, a resident of Garha, reportedly shared the details of his ordeal with his father, Happy, who works as a taxi driver. According to the FIR, Sahil was first invited to his girlfriend’s place in Phagwari Mohalla, where he was attacked by her family. When his father intervened and managed to secure Sahil’s release, the family allegedly forced Sahil’s girlfriend to tie a rakhi around his wrist during a public display intended to further humiliate him.

After returning home, Sahil, reportedly saddened and overwhelmed by the events, took his own life. His body was found hanging in his home. An autopsy has been conducted to determine more details.

Police officials from Division Number 7 claimed that they were working to arrest all those involved in the incident. “All suspects will be arrested soon,” she added.
