CCTV shows predator lures victim into car – while friends save her as she shares location | British news

A man sexually assaulted and attempted to rape a woman after luring her into his car. Her friends rescued her hours later when she managed to share her location.

CCTV captured the incident that led to the arrest of Ghulan Mohammed in Burton Upon Trent, Leicestershire.

Video shows Mohammed’s car suddenly braking as he passed the woman at around 9:30 pm on December 17 last year.

He parks nearby and follows his victim, who police say is in his 20s and was drunk at the time.

After about an hour, the hooded Mohammed lures her into the back of his VW Golf.

Police say he spent the next two hours driving around multiple locations and parking largely out of view of security cameras to carry out his attacks.

CCTV shows them at a petrol station at 12.40pm and the distressed woman bangs on the glass of the shop and pushes Mohammed away.

The 36-year-old then took her to a hotel car park, but along the way she managed to send a voice message asking for help and sharing her live location.

Her friends rushed to the scene in a taxi and she is seen pulling out of the back of the car

However, Mohammed is not deterred and follows them in his own car, but only gives up when the taxi drives into a police station.

Leicestershire Police said the victim did not speak much English and apps on her phone showed she had translated phrases such as “give me back my clothes” and “take me home”.

Mohammed was found guilty last week of attempted rape, four counts of sexual touching, four counts of fraud and theft.

Detective Constable (DC) Sarah Le Boutillier said: “Mohammed is a sexual predator who deliberately sought out the victim that night after seeing her alone and in a vulnerable state.

“It is thanks to her friends that she was rescued from the defendant’s car after she was able to share her location details with them. I believe that if this had not happened, further criminal offenses would have been committed.”
