Multiple shots were fired at a home in Cookstown on Tuesday morning, police say

“The motive behind this act is unknown at this stage and residents are therefore urged to remain vigilant,” South Simcoe Police said of the incident on Mumberson Street.

Officers are investigating a ‘serious incident’ involving shots fired at a house in Cookstown early on Tuesday morning.

South Simcoe Police responded to a home Mumberson Street November 5 around 4:25 am. Preliminary reports indicate a small, dark SUV may have been involved.

“The motive behind this act is unknown at this stage, therefore residents are urged to remain vigilant,” the department said in a news release. “The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”

No injuries have been reported.

Officers “responded immediately and a thorough investigation is underway,” involving members of the department’s Uniform Patrol, Forensic Identification Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau.
