Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney says he couldn’t vote on Election Day because of a ballot mixup

Clemson Football coach Dabo Swinney took time out of his preparations ahead of Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech to fulfill his civic duty when he encountered a problem.

Apparently he had already cast his vote 2024 presidential election.

The only problem? He actually didn’t have that.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the football coach announced that he planned to start his day at the elections. What he thought would be a quick ten-minute detour turned out to be a much longer process.

“I tried to vote. I went out and voted this morning. They told me I couldn’t vote. That was quite an experience,” Swinney said with a smile, adding that he initially thought the issue was a bit too had to make. with Clemson loss to Louisville during the weekend.

“Dang. They voted me out of state. Lost a game. We’re 6-2 and 5-1 (in the conference), man. They kicked me out.”

Swinney went on to explain that he was told he had already voted the week before with a mail-in ballot.

“He said I had already voted. And I was like, ‘No, I can assure you I didn’t vote.'”

“It turns out that Will – my oldest – voted last week, and somehow they messed up, didn’t verify his birthday or anything, and counted me as a vote. So what was supposed to take ten minutes took an hour. .”

Swinney said he would have to fill out a paper ballot instead and that a hearing would be held Friday to resolve the issue — a timeline he expressed reservations about.
