Pedestrian, 26, killed in crash in NJ area, police say

Police say a pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after being struck near a South Jersey elementary school.

The pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was found in the middle of Turnersville Road in Pine Hill, Camden County, around 12:59 p.m., local police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the name of the man who was fatally shot.

The motorist who struck the man left the area before officers arrived, police said. Authorities did not say whether they had determined the make, model or color of the vehicle.

The crash happened near Joey Green Field, a sports complex, and John Glenn Elementary School. The road where the pedestrian was struck was closed for hours while police investigated.

Anyone with information about the crash or who witnessed it is urged to contact the Pine Hill Police Department at (856) 783-1549 ext. 426. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating the crash.
