Suspect in Medina Walmart arson arrested in New York

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The man accused of intentionally setting fire to the Walmart Supercenter in Medina was arrested in New York state, according to police.

Court records show Jeremiah Q. Banto, 26, of Providence, Rhode Island, is charged with aggravated arson and grand theft.

The fire forced the Walmart on Pearl Road to temporarily close Monday afternoon.

Police said Banto also stole a vehicle from a used car lot in Medina Township on Nov. 4.

He is currently being held in Chautauqua, New York, pending extradition to Medina County, where he faces charges in the arson and auto theft charges, police said. Medina Township Police Department.
