Jaguars sign CJ Beathard to Active Roster, followed by one additional move

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have made the following roster moves, the team announced today:

  • QB CJ Beathard was signed to the 53-man roster of Miami’s practice squad
  • WR Devin Duvernay placed on reserve/injured; Designated for the return list and opened his 21-day practice period

Beathard was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round (104th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in 31 games (13 starts) for San Francisco (2017-2020) and Jacksonville (2021-23). Beathard’s career totals include 340 completions for 3,886 yards and 19 touchdowns, including 49 completions for 417 yards and one touchdown in 13 games (one start) for the Jaguars. He has also recorded 64 career rushes for 266 yards and four touchdowns.

The Franklin, Tenn., native played in 41 games (28 starts) over five seasons at Iowa (2012-16). In program history, he tied for third in wins as a starting quarterback (21), sixth in touchdown passes (40) and total offense (5,991), seventh in pass completions (454) and attempts (782) and eighth in passing yards (5,562 ).

Duvernay played in five games for the Jaguars this season, returning five kickoffs for 100 yards (20.0 average) and seven punts for 81 yards (11.6 average), including a 53-yard punt return against Indianapolis in Week 5. He was on the Reserve/Injured list on October 9.

Duvernay spent his first four seasons (2020-2023) with the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted in the third round (92nd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. With Baltimore, he posted 94 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns; 27 rushing attempts for 219 yards and one touchdown; 73 kickoff returns for 1,811 yards and two touchdowns, including a 103-yard return in 2022; and 69 punt returns for 886 yards. Duvernay was named to the Pro Bowl twice (2021 and 2022) and was named Associated Press First-Team All-Pro in 2021.
