'Where's Kamala?': Harris campaign goes radio silent as Donald Trump moves closer to the White House

As Donald Trump moves closer to taking back the White House, questions are being raised about the silence in Kamala Harris’ camp. With momentum shifting in Trump’s favor, Harris’ campaign opted to go radio silence on election night, with campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond addressing the concerned crowd gathered at Howard University in Washington, D.C., without the vice president himself.
“We still have to count votes. There are still states that have not yet been called. We will continue to fight tonight to ensure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken,” Richmond assured the crowd, adding, “You won’t hear from the Vice President tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow. She will return to Howard not only to address her supporters, but also to address the nation.”
Trump addresses his supporters
The event, initially full of optimism, gradually lost its celebratory atmosphere as Trump secured crucial battlegrounds, significantly narrowing Harris’ path to victory. Trump’s victories in Georgia and North Carolina, both hotly contested states, have complicated the map for Democrats, leaving Harris dependent on a much more limited “blue wall” strategy in the Midwest. In a memo to staff, campaign chairman Jen O’Malley Dillon suggested that Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin now represented Harris’ “clearest path” to the White House, AP reported.
As the clock ticked into the early hours of Wednesday morning, Trump prepared to address his supporters in Florida, where his team appeared energized by the night’s outcomes. Meanwhile, Harris supporters who had gathered at Howard University began tuning out, visibly disappointed that the vice president would not be speaking.
Trump consolidates Republican base
Throughout the evening, aides at Harris’ headquarters were reportedly tense and quiet, with little communication emerging as results trickled in. Analysts noted a lack of the usual “spin” or optimism from her team, suggesting the Harris campaign was experiencing a tightening. pool of feasible paths to 270 electoral votes, according to AP.
Trump continued to consolidate his base in traditional Republican strongholds such as Texas, South Carolina and Indiana, while Harris captured Democratic-leaning states including Virginia and California.
