A 19-year-old Muncy woman was treated at UPMC Williamsport at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday for injuries she suffered when the motorcycle she was riding southbound on Sulfur Springs Road, about 4 miles south of South Williamsport, overturned, state police said. .

The woman, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bicycle and thrown from a 10-meter high embankment.

Once on scene, emergency responders quickly climbed down the embankment and began assessing and treating her injuries.

From the road, firefighters used a Z-rope harness system to lower a sign and Stokes basket over the embankment to the first responders below. Rescuers loaded the injured cyclist into the basket, which was then lifted back onto the road. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The narrow winding road was closed for an hour by the Ministry of Transport due to the accident.
