Cuyahoga investigators looking for suspected arson suspects are offering a reward

Cuyahoga County investigators with the Department of Commerce Department of State Fire Marshal (SFM) are asking for the public’s help in finding two people who allegedly set fire to a commercial building in Bedford Heights on Tuesday.

According to investigators, at approximately 1:02 a.m., the Bedford Heights Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in a four-story building at 5311 Northfield Rd.

Upon arrival, authorities said firefighters discovered a fire coming from a first-floor window.

Investigators say crews found numerous people living in the basement of the building.

Authorities said everyone was removed from the high-rise without injuries, including several children from one of the units.

Video footage shows two people walking into the building near the first-floor window where the fire started, as the two leave the building.

The two people wore hoods, masks and gloves. Footage shows at least one of the people holding what appears to be lighter fluid.

Based on the video and additional information gathered, investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

The Blue Ribbon Arson Commission is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Investigators urge anyone with information to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728. All tips are thoroughly investigated.
