Shooting suspect shot and killed by police during a chase in Jackson Co., officer injured

JACKSON Co., Mich. (WTVG) – A man was shot Wednesday after shooting at his brother and then fleeing and shooting at police. An officer involved in the incident was injured in the shooting but is expected to survive, according to Michigan State Police.

According to a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Pentecost Highway in Franklin Township for a domestic violence situation between brothers.

According to the release, a 34-year-old man and his 31-year-old brother were fighting when the 31-year-old pulled out a gun and shot his brother in the hand. Another family member took the 34-year-old to the hospital with minor injuries.

The 31-year-old was later found in Jackson County. He fled from police in the area and fired multiple shots at police, according to the release.

Police in Jackson County then returned fire at the 31-year-old man, striking and killing him.
