A reward is being offered for information about the Bedford Heights arson

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Bedford Heights arson.

The State Fire Marshal on Tuesday ruled a fire in Bedford Heights at a four-story commercial high-rise building similar to an arson on Northfield Road.

Police released a video showing two people walking into the building near where the fire started and also leaving the building. Both individuals wore hoods, masks and gloves. The video also shows one of the people holding what appears to be lighter fluid.

According to police, the incident happened around 1 a.m

The fire departments from Bedford Heights, Maple Heights, North Randall, Solon and Highland Hills responded to the scene for mutual aid.

Although the building is a commercial building, several people appeared to live in the office units in the basement. Maple Heights firefighters rescued several children from one of the units and everyone was able to evacuate the building without injuries.

According to the press release from the State Fire Marshal’s office, the video and additional information gathered, investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.

The Blue Ribbon Arson Commission is offering the reward. Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728. All tips are thoroughly investigated.
