Woman threatens to skip her sister’s wedding unless she lets her children go

A woman demands that her children be allowed to attend her sister’s child-free wedding.

The bride, 30, explained in a message on Reddit‘s popular “Am I the A——?” forum that her sister, 35, is “really angry” about the child-free policy at her wedding.

“We both feel like it’s our big day, and we want it to be a party for adults,” the poster wrote of the couple’s decision not to include children.

However, the sister thinks it is “unfair” that the 32-year-old bride and groom do not let her two children go.

“She said her children should be allowed to be there as family, and that it was unfair to exclude them,” the bride wrote. “I explained that it’s not personal, but she has pushed back hard and even threatened not to come if she can’t bring them.”

Although the woman wants her sister to attend her wedding, she adheres to her policy. As a result, there is now ‘tension’ in the family.

The bride asks the forum: “AITA (Am I the A——?) because she didn’t break the rules for her children?”

People were divided in the comments section. Some Redditors argued that the bride should drop her child-free policy because it’s not worth ruining family relationships. Other users, on the other hand, said that it is her wedding, her decision.

“You’re asking her to celebrate welcoming someone into the family when you don’t want to celebrate with the family members who are most important to her,” one Redditor wrote in part. “I can’t imagine being so strict with the no-kids rule that I’d end up adhering to it and ruining my relationship with my sibling, but it sounds like you’ve already chosen that path. You starting a new life with your partner…do you really want to start your new life with a break in your old one?”

Another person commented: “NTA, child free weddings are common and usually never in person. If she can’t accept that then she just can’t attend.”
