Billie Eilish criticizes ‘predator’ Donald Trump and walks off stage mid-song after Roe v. Wade lyrics are destroyed

“Someone who hates women so deeply is about to become president of the United States of America,” Eilish told the audience at her first post-election concert.

Billie Eilish didn’t mince his words when responding to the former president’s news Donald Trump won his re-election bid in the 2024 presidential race.

Following the election results, Eilish, 22, told the audience at her Nashville concert on Wednesday night that at first she “couldn’t really fathom doing a show on this day.” But after thinking about it, she realized she could provide a safe space for those who are also struggling to cope with the news.

“The more the day went on, I felt like, it’s such a privilege that I get to do this with you and that we have this at a time like now,” Eilish told the crowd at Nashville’s Bridgestone. In the preamble to her song “TV,” Eilish shared that the lyrics are “about the abuse that exists in this world against women and a lot of the experiences that I’ve gone through and people that I know have gone through.”

She added, “To tell you the truth, I have never met a single woman who doesn’t have a story of abuse. Not one.”

Speaking about her own experience, Eilish said: “I’ve had some things happen to me and I’ve been taken advantage of. I’ve had my boundaries crossed, to put it politely, and now someone who’s a… let’s say convicted predator is, let’s just say that – god, my heart is beating fast,” she noted, then concluded, “Someone who hates women so deeply is about to become President of the United States of America. So this song is for all women out there. I love you, I support you.”

Eilish then performed “TV”. but stopped about halfway through the song after singing the lyrics, “The internet has gone wild watching movie stars on trial / While they Overturning Roe v. Wade.” She stood in silence for a few moments as the audience cheered her on, before the lights dimmed and she left the stage.

Representatives for Donald Trump did not immediately respond Entertainment weekly‘s request for comment.

Last May, the former president was found liable of sexual abuse and defamation against author and journalist E. Jean Carroll. Because it was a civil suit, Trump was not convicted of a crime, but was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million in damages. Carroll — who claims in her 2019 memoir that Trump raped her in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store — is one of more than a dozen women who have accused Trump of sexual assault or harassment.

While Eilish made a bold statement and words of comfort to her audience, fellow singer Sabrina Timmerman shared similar sentiments on the other side of the country, during a performance at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

“I hope we can be a moment of peace for you, a moment of safety,” Timmerman said told her audience. “Sorry for our country. And to the women here, I love you so, so, so, so much, and I really hope you enjoy the rest of this evening, because you absolutely deserve it.”

The rising pop star was recently considered one of the most influential celebrities in registering young Americans to vote in the 2024 presidential election. Although she did not officially endorse a candidate,’Please, please‘Singer-songwriter was responsible for increasing voter registration by 35,814 per HeadCount.

Eilish and brother Finneas O’Connell are outspoken supporters of the Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris. In September, the siblings teamed up for a approval videocalling on followers to vote for Harris to “protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy.”

Eilish added that fans should “vote like your life depends on it, because it does.”

In the immediate aftermath of Trump’s re-election on Wednesday, Eilish somberly posted on her Instagram Story: “It’s a war on women.”
