Nighttime election patrols in Crossroads, River Market result in a handful of arrests

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – An election night patrol in the Crossroads and River Market areas resulted in the recovery of five stolen vehicles, a large number of drugs and a handful of arrests.

Stolen vehicles, drugs and firearms were cleared from the streets of Kansas City during election night enforcement efforts in the Crossroads and River Market areas.

The Kansas City, Missouri, police says law enforcement officers took to the streets on election night, Tuesday, November 5, to investigate car thefts and other related crimes in the Crossroads, River Market and nearby areas.

Researchers said they focused on areas based on data and previous reports. A helicopter was able to track a vehicle attempting to drive away from patrol vehicles on the ground, leading to several arrests.

During this search, law enforcement officials said 1 stolen vehicle was recovered, 2 felons were found in possession of a firearm, 2 large bags of narcotics, and 500 – 700 pills appearing to be oxycodone.

KCPD indicated that federal charges have been filed in connection with the stop. Through the proactive effort of 33 vehicle checks, officers recovered four additional stolen vehicles, four stolen license plates and two firearms.

Law enforcement officials said they are committed to the metro area and will continue to serve faithfully. No further information has been released.
