Toddler narrowly escapes injury when bullets hit a car in Seattle’s Sandpoint neighborhood

Seattle Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday afternoon in which bullets narrowly missed a toddler sitting in a car seat.

SPD said officers responded to the intersection of Northeast 95 Street and 35th Ave Northeast just before 1 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with its rear window missing and several people, including the toddler, nearby, according to police.

“The people stated they were driving in the area when someone in another car opened fire,” SPD wrote in a news release. “The bullets went through the rear window and hit the car seat. Fortunately, the child was not injured.”

The SPD said officers are now interviewing witnesses and reviewing video footage in hopes of identifying a possible suspect.
