Six arrests after man was injured

Six people have been arrested after a man suffered a suspected stab wound in Plymouth, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to Basket Ope, near the Barbican, at about 5.40pm GMT on Thursday after reports of a group of men “shouting and making threats” at each other.

According to police, the ambulance service later reported that a man had been attacked nearby.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital where he was treated for a “suspected stab wound”, police said.

Police said his injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering and the investigation was ongoing.

It says a 27-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man and a 50-year-old man, all from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

It says a 37-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a class A drug.

A 40-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, the report said.

Police added that a man aged 30, of no fixed abode, had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.

Police said: “All suspects are currently still in custody.

“This incident is in no way related to the fatal stabbing in Plymouth earlier this week.”
