Woman, 68, found dead in freezer after hiring workers to help her with maintenance at home

LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – A woman has been found dead in her freezer and one person is under arrest in connection with her death.

According to Las Vegas police, 37-year-old Daniel Roush is facing charges after a woman’s body was found in a mobile home earlier this week.

The police said yes got a phone call about a missing woman on Wednesday around 11:40 am. People in the neighborhood said that their 68-year-old neighbor had suddenly disappeared and that she had not walked her dog since the end of October.

Arriving officers said initially no one opened the front door of the mobile home, but once inside they encountered two people acting suspiciously.

Officers arrested the residents of the house for questioning because they did not know where the woman was.

Police searched the mobile home and found a locked freezer. Officers called for a locksmith to open the freezer, which revealed the woman’s body.

Roush, one of the people questioned, was taken into police custody and charged with open murder.

Neighbors said the woman had lived in the mobile home park community for more than 20 years and had hired two people to help with some work in her home.

Neighbor Christine Marshall said she had known the woman for 20 years and that she was almost too kind and open to strangers.

“She was just open to giving too much information,” she said. “I told the cop last night that every con artist has a real payday. She probably would have given them anything they wanted. She didn’t deserve that.”

The two workers eventually moved into the woman’s mobile home, but when her medication was stolen, neighbors say they were then kicked out.

Another neighbor said the woman told them a few weeks ago that she expressed concern that the two workers would come back and hurt her.

The woman’s identification, as well as the cause and manner of her death, are still pending with the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
