Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart suffers apparent injury against Georgia and returns to game

This story will be updated as the situation with Dart’s injury develops. He came out of the locker room and took part again in the game against Georgia.

OXFORD — The No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels got the football to start Saturday’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs, but the first possession was a nightmare for the home team.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart was sacked on second down and came up slowly, favoring one of his legs. On third down, he threw his back foot over the middle (presumably because of the apparent injury) and was intercepted, a turnover that set up a Georgia rushing score on fourth down and a goal on the ensuing possession.

Dart went to the injury tent on the sideline, and was later seen heading to the locker room for further evaluation. When Ole Miss got the kickoff after the Bulldogs’ score, Austin Simmons came out to lead the Rebels’ offense. Dart then came out of the locker room and grabbed his helmet on the sideline.

After a scoring drive piloted by Simmons, Dart re-entered the game for the Rebels.

We will update this story as more information about Dart becomes available. You can follow us for in-game updates here.
