Mother and son killed, other sibling seriously injured after Monday morning crash, Tallahassee police say

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A mother and her teenage son were killed in a crash in east Tallahassee Monday morning while on their way to the Veterans Day parade downtown, according to Tallahassee police.

TPD confirmed that the two teens involved in the crash were members of the Rickards High School band.

Police said the crash happened just before 9 a.m. at East Tennessee Street and North Franklin Boulevard.

A pickup truck was traveling east on East Tennessee Street when police say it lost control, crossed the median and struck a sedan traveling west on East Tennessee Street.

The woman in the sedan died from her injuries at the scene of the crash, TPD said. Her two sons were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

One of the teens later died from his injuries. The other is currently in hospital.

According to TPD, the driver of the pickup was treated at the scene.

WCTV contacted the principal of Rickards High School and he said he would not comment until he knows more information about what happened and has had a chance to speak with the family members associated with the crash victims .
