Kendrapada: A 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter several times in Jajpur district. The incident took place when the victim’s mother was away from home for the past three months due to domestic disputes.
According to investigating officer Bamadev Nanda, the matter came to light when the victim confided in her mother about the ordeal. The suspect allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone. “The victim’s mother filed an FIR on Wednesday after which we registered a case and sent the minor for medical examination,” Nanda said.
The man was booked under Section 64 of the BNS (punishment for rape) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012. The accused was produced before the Jajpur court on Wednesday, which rejected his bail application and remanded in custody. him in pre-trial detention.
