Three charged in murder of 13-year-old boy in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Police Department has arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Angel Diaz, who was killed on April 4 on the city’s northeast side. Diaz was found with a gunshot wound in the 1300 block of E. Hudson Street and was pronounced dead by emergency responders shortly after 10:24 p.m.

Police say three men have been charged with murder in connection with Diaz’s death. The first arrest occurred on June 27, when 30-year-old Jaivon Jones was taken into custody. A few months later, on October 24, police arrested 21-year-old Dock Parker. Most recently, on November 4, 22-year-old Mekhi Webster was also charged with murder.

The Columbus Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case and has asked for the public’s assistance. Authorities have not released any further details about the motive behind the shooting or any connection between the suspects and the young victim.
