Doctors in Chennai halt work after doctor was stabbed seven times by patient’s son

In a gruesome incident, a doctor from Tamil Nadu was stabbed seven times by a young man whose mother was being treated for cancer by the same doctor at a hospital in Chennai on Wednesday morning. The young man was also a patient attendant at that hospital. The doctor, an oncologist, is also a heart patient and suffered injuries to his chest and head. He is in the Intensive Care Unit, or ICU, but his condition is now stable.
Doctors have suspended all work except emergency services. They have submitted a 13-point demand to the Tamil Nadu government to ensure safety of doctors.
