Centralia man arrested on federal child pornography charges

CENTRALIA, Ill. (KFVS) – A Centralia, Illinois man is arrested on child pornography charges after an investigation in Jefferson County.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, November 12, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 45-year-old Leith A. Hiltibidal of Centralia on charges of distribution of child pornography.

Hiltibidal was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is currently incarcerated in a federal prison.

The sheriff’s office says the arrest was a direct result of a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigation initiated on May 17, which resulted in the issuance of search warrants for electronic equipment and Hiltibidal’s Centralia residence on July 1 was evicted.

Once completed, the investigation was turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for review and criminal prosecution.
