Public library announces upcoming activities | News, sports, jobs


STEUBENVILLE – The Steubenville and Jefferson County Public Library has announced upcoming activities and events taking place next week. Starting Monday, children can pick up a Harry Potter take-home bag at any library branch, while supplies last. This month supplies are delivered to make a bowtruckle: a hand-sized, insect-eating, tree-dwelling magical beast from Harry Potter.

Adults: Learn to make three unique Italian cookies using the same basic ingredients on November 23 at 11 a.m. Examples are shown. Register to attend.

Teens: Start Monday with a grab-and-go craft to make a fake stained glass bookmark.

Children: On Monday at 5:30 PM there is Story Time for children between 5 and 10 years old.

Parents can bring their child up to 2 years old to the Babygarten on Monday at 11:30 am. The hour-long lap time program includes stories and songs. Register to attend.

Kids: Grab-and-go craft bags will be available starting Monday, while supplies last. These bags contain supplies to make a Thanksgiving craft.

Adults: Discuss the book ‘What Happened to the Bennetts’ by Lisa Scottoline during the book club, which meets Tuesday at 10 a.m. Call to join. Author Rena Glover Goss will visit the library Monday at 5 p.m. to discuss and sign copies of her book ‘Murder at Perin Run.’ Register to attend.

Children: Parents can bring their babies, from birth to 2 years, to the Babygarten on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. This one-hour round-time program includes stories and songs. Register to attend.

Teens: Buy a to-go bag on Monday to make a festive craft with beads. The activity is for students aged 10 to 18.
