Columbia Police respond to Stephens Lake Park after a reported assault at the Conley Road Walmart

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several Columbia police officers responded to East Walnut Street in Columbia, near Stephens Lake Park, Thursday evening after an assault was reported at the Conley Road Walmart.

Officers on the scene told ABC 17 News that someone was assaulted at the nearby Walmart and the suspect ran away. That person was apprehended near the Reichmann Pavilion on the north side of the park.

Officers said no firearms were used in the attack, but a firearm was displayed. An ABC 17 News reporter saw a man handcuffed near a police vehicle. According to the police, there are no other suspects and there is no danger to the public.

At least seven Columbia police officers were on the scene.
