KC’s current success is a win-win for fans and local businesses.

RIVERSIDE, Mo – KC Current fans are excited as the team heads to the semifinals this weekend.

“I’m super excited. And it’s also so great that we can play against Orlando again,” said Cherie Gallagher.

With just one win separating them from a spot in the championship game, Gallagher said it was exciting to see the city shine in teal this season.

“The way the city has shown and supported them is really special. But it also just proves that Kansas City is the city of champions. And it will be,” said Gallagher.

The Current’s successful season is also reflected off the field. Many local businesses, such as Cafe Ca Phe, just a few kilometers down the road from the stadium, see many fans passing by.

“I mean, before and after the game, a few KC Current fans come over to have a drink. They usually enjoy going to the game,” said Akihisa Miwa, the coffee shop manager.

Miwa said having good teams in the city gives businesses a huge boost.

“It also means a lot to us, just like the KC Current that motivates us to work harder. It’s been a lot of fun for us,” Miwa said.

The team will face the Orlando Pride in Orlando next Sunday. Fans here in Kansas City can cheer on the team at the Current Watch Party.
