He was one of the highest-paid athletes to ever step into the ring, went bankrupt after disputes with his former promoter Don King, and made it all back again. This example is more than just a watch; it’s a testament to Tyson’s larger-than-life personality and one of the most infamous yet controversial moments in watchmaking history – because Tyson essentially walked away from the Piaget boutique with it.

The story goes that when Mike Tyson was at the height of his fame as one of the biggest names in the sport, he walked into a Piaget boutique, saw the watch and put it on his wrist. He looked the sales associate straight in the eye, declared, “Showtime will pay for it,” and walked straight out.

Afterwards, despite repeated requests from Showtime’s agents and lawyers, Tyson refused to return the watch. He even threatened to withdraw from an upcoming fight – one that was too valuable for Showtime to lose. Backed into a corner, Showtime ultimately paid the high price tag. Since then, Tyson has made this timepiece his signature and wears it to almost every major fight.

Yellow gold Cartier Pasha chronograph

The Rolex Day-Date 18038 is the classic yellow gold ‘President’ that many imagine when they think of this iconic model. For me, this is the standout piece from his President collection.

Interestingly enough, Tyson’s taste for fine sizing doesn’t stop there. He has also been seen wearing a 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual – a surprisingly understated choice for ‘Iron Mike’, reflecting his unique sense of style. And for times when he wants to add some extra sparkle, he turns to his diamond-encrusted Day-Date 18048, complete with a diamond bezel and dial. This piece takes Tyson’s collection to the next level, combining classic elegance with just enough sparkle to remember anyone who wears it.
