Georgetown Co. 13-year-old accused of making threats to students

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – A Lowcountry Preparatory School student now faces charges in connection with threats deputies say were made on social media.

The 13-year-old boy is accused of making student threats after the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office found “overt threats against students” on a social media platform.

Officers attempted to contact his parents and the student at his home Thursday evening, but without success. They were at school Friday morning and the boy and his father arrived and stopped for questioning.

A search of the boy’s home revealed no weapons. After charges were filed, the teen was released to a parent. He will also face discipline in accordance with school policy.

Deputies say school was not interrupted by this event.
