What you need to know about winter parking changes in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN – Several approved changes in emergency parking in winter and snow will impact drivers next month.

Updates for the municipal code include shortening the winter season, broadening storm conditions and eliminating effective hours, such as approved by the Common Council November 4.

The parking ban remains in force for streets with ‘No Parking’ signs. Parking is still not allowed on streets marked as snow emergency routes.

On-street parking in Sheboygan is changing during the declared snow emergency

Previously, winter overnight parking rules were in effect during a snow emergency.

Now parking rules are determined based on the calendar date of the snow emergency declaration, without hourly restrictions.

“Once the snow plow has cleared snow up to the curb on the opposite side of the street, vehicles must be moved to the cleared side no later than midnight, where, when parked, they will remain for the remainder of the next snow crisis. day,” the amended language says.

“If a snow emergency is in effect for more than 48 hours,” the amended language continues, “vehicles will be parked on the odd or even side of the street corresponding to the calendar date of each day the snow emergency is declared, but they may be moved to the other side once the snow has been cleared to the curb.”

Sheboygan plans to make statements to end the snow crisis

According to the updates, the Common Council or the mayor must now make a declaration to lift the snow emergency and subsequent parking restrictions.
