Suspect in burglary that led to fatal shooting of man sought ‘suicide by cop’

Alejandra Boudreaux, accused of breaking into a home before the police shooting, allegedly intended for officers to fire their weapons in a suicide attempt, according to a criminal complaint filed against her.

Court documents show Boudreaux faces four charges: residential burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon or firearm, assault with a deadly weapon constituting domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, and disregard for the safety of persons or property .

The complaint states that Boudreaux broke into Brandon Durham’s home with a knife, intending to provoke a police response that would result in her being shot.

Although the name of the person she allegedly wanted to shoot has been redacted, it is likely Durham.

A Metro officer fired multiple rounds at Durham during the incident.

Body camera footage released yesterday shows Durham struggling with the intruder for a knife. The court documents suggest some sort of relationship between Durham and Boudreaux.

Metro Police are conducting an internal investigation into the shooting and the district attorney’s office will ultimately decide whether to file criminal charges.

Surveillance footage obtained by News 3 appears to show Boudreaux outside the home for ten minutes, catching the sound of glass breaking.

The indictment accuses Boudreaux of trying to stab Durham.
