Video captures Miami thief’s wardrobe malfunction at Subway

MIAMI – Maybe he should have tried stealing a belt first.

According to arrest reports, Miami police have cracked the case of a man who broke into businesses in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood, including a Subway restaurant where a surveillance camera captured an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction when he stole the restaurant’s cash register.

Police say Yoel Borges, 51, put on a shirt that said “Be Kind” when he committed the crime. They said he was caught with his pants down as he reached over the counter at the chain’s location at 2962 SW Eighth St., giving the camera a full moon before he made off with the register Monday.

He stormed into the store around 2 a.m

Authorities said he was working with a getaway driver, 64-year-old Orlando Fernandez.

Police said the getaway vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, was registered to a car dealer in Homestead and had a GPS tracker.

Authorities said they were able to track the vehicle to the 1600 block of Southwest 27th Avenue and took Fernandez into custody.

They said he volunteered that Borges was at the Publix a few blocks south; Officers went there and took him into custody as well.

Both men are now facing multiple charges, including burglary.

They were still in custody in Miami-Dade County as of Friday evening.
