Man steals a van containing an employee and rams a police vehicle

Beaverton police arrested a man Friday for allegedly stealing a van and ramming a police vehicle.

Surveillance footage shows a man stealing an Elephants Delicatessen van that was being loaded just after 4 a.m. in the Milwaukie warehouse parking lot. Police later identified the man as 29-year-old Forrest Lee Guayante of Aberdeen, Washington.

Police said Guayante got into the cab of the truck and began driving while an employee was still in the cargo section of the truck. The employee jumped from the truck as it drove away.

Employees electronically tracked the truck to a parking lot in Beaverton and alerted police around 12:15 p.m

Beaverton police found the truck with Guayante inside near the intersection of Southwest Gem Lane and Cedar Hills Boulevard. When they tried to stop the truck, Guayante rammed a police vehicle before fleeing on foot.

Guayante ran through business parking lots and neighborhood yards before he was captured, police said.

Guayante is being held in the Washington County Jail on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, attempted eluding, hit and run, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
