The motorcyclist killed in the Cumberland County crash has been identified

Pennsylvania State Police have identified the man killed in a motorcycle accident in Cumberland County Saturday morning.

Mangal Rai, 28, of Shippensburg, was identified in a PSP report as the victim of the single-vehicle incident, which occurred around 6:45 a.m. at the interchange between southbound I-81 and eastbound Route 581.

According to police, Rai “compensated for the left bend in the road” and crossed over the right shoulder before crashing into a metal guardrail of his 2023 Kawasaki Ninja.

According to state police, Rai was pronounced dead on the spot. The accident shut down the interchange on Saturday morning.
