Officers arrest suspect accused of drunken shooting that damaged two vehicles

KERRVILLE, Texas – A suspect was arrested after allegedly damaging two vehicles and drunkenly firing his gun at a Center Point home.

On Thursday, Kerr County sheriffs responded to a call from a woman in distress reporting a man had shot into a home on Short Line Drive in Center Point.

Upon arriving at the home, officers discovered that a male suspect, 41-year-old Zeferino Arreola Lopez, had fled the scene in a pickup truck, carrying a .30-06 shotgun.

Investigators were able to identify the vehicle and Lopez was safely detained a short distance away.

“This type of reckless and deadly behavior will never be tolerated in Kerr County,” said Sheriff Larry Leitha. “This individual not only endangered the residents of the home, but also many innocent people within range of his gun.”

When questioned, Lopez admitted to damaging two vehicles before the shooting. Authorities believe alcohol may have been involved.

Lopez has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of Deadly Conduct, one misdemeanor count of Criminal Mischief and one misdemeanor count of Criminal Mischief.
