Winchester and Thame services are comforting families affected by road deaths

Two memorial services for people killed in road accidents provided “comfort” to friends and family, a pastor said.

Rev Dom Jones, who led a service in Winchester, said people were taking “great comfort” from attending and meeting other bereaved families.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Joint Operations Road Policing Unit and Thames Valley Police held two memorial services on Sunday for people killed on roads in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Thames Valley.

Gordon and Anne Thick, whose son John died the night before his wedding in 1999, said the service gave them a chance to “focus” on him.
