No sexual assault has occurred near Ghormley Park

Moscow police say the reported Nov. 11 assault near Ghormley Park was a false report.

According to a news release from the city, the University of Idaho MPD campus division has completed an investigation into the incident.

Police were told a person walking to the UI campus was sexually assaulted after a man pulled them into a van near Ghormley Park. No descriptions of the vehicle or suspect were provided.

This report prompted the UI to issue a Vandal Alert to warn people about the alleged incident. In the press release following the initial report, the MPD addressed rumors of a “serial rapist” located near the UI and Washington State University. WSU police responded to a report of a possible assault in Pullman last month, but later announced the report was “unfounded.”
