Yellowstone fans are stunned as John Dutton’s real cause of death is revealed in a shocking new episode

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone continues its final season on Sunday with a new episode, revealing exactly how John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was killed.

Fans were outraged by this revelation, although it was learned that Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) – the new girl Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is involved with – had gone through a company that specialized in making murders look like suicides.

It didn’t take long for John’s other children – Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) – to realize Jamie was involved in their father’s death.

Beth has vowed to kill Jamie herself, and while it remains to be seen when or if that will happen, the show’s opening moments revealed exactly how Dutton was killed.

The reveal was shown in another flashback, which has once again irritated fans, while others revealed how shocked they were after seeing John killed.

The episode opened with another flashback, before John was killed, with Beth and Rip at their hotel in Amarillo, Texas.

Beth says she can’t do this for a year, but Rip says there are rules and he has to stay with the herd.

He says there are no more surprises and he needs to let her know when she’s coming before he goes back to work.

As Beth begins her drive back to Montana, we see soldiers dressed in black subduing John and treating the death as suicide, injecting something into his foot and orchestrating the suicide.

Just as that happens, Beth is suddenly stunned by the idea that something is wrong, while Kayce also wakes from his sleep.

Beth calls Rip asking if she’s okay and insists something is wrong, while Rip tells her to stop when she gets tired.

The trooper arrives at the governor’s mansion and finds what appears to be a suicide, but the soldiers have disappeared.

Fans were not only shocked to see John’s death, but also annoyed by the idea that Beth and Kayce could somehow “feel” their father’s death.
